Most everyone is familiar with TripAdvisor. It is available on both Android and iPhone. You can find flights, hotels, restaurants, and things to do using this app. Best of all, this app is free!

You might try using iCruise. This is one of the most comprehensive cruise planning app there is in the travel industry. It received the 2011 Travel Weekly Magellan Award for apps. One of the things most people do is make lists of things they need to remember to pack.

For those with iPhones:

There is a free app called Simply Pack. This is the Lite version. It comes with a Master List already installed and ready to choose from. You then select items for your Trip List. Items and groups can be added, changed, or deleted to suit your individual family needs. You can choose to have items marked or disappear from the list as you work through it. You can also prioritize your list items with either red or yellow dots. You can also add weights and quantities.

For Android Users:

There is a packing list app for you, too. In fact it’s actually called Packing List. It comes with a Master List already installed. You can create new lists and group by category, location, and luggage. Each item has note, quantity and weight fields. You can also print a list in the case of lost luggage. Email and share lists.

iPhone Users:

This next app is the official State Department app for US travelers. It provides you with travel alerts, travel warnings, US embassy locations, and lots more. Smart Traveler gives you access to the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Enrollment in this program enables the State Department to provide you with better assistance in case of emergencies like natural disasters, unrest in foreign countries, or lost/stolen passports. This app also provides quick access to the Department’s Consular Affairs Facebook & Twitter pages. You can create itineraries, add notes, and organize your trips. This app is free so grab it and travel safely.

Android Users:

Travel Smart. This app will provide you with the essential travel updates you need for the countries on your itinerary.
