Ahhh, Memorial Day. As the official unofficial first day of summer, Memorial Day is a time to kick back, enjoy a few cold ones, grill out, laze by the pool, and enjoy a long weekend. Will you be in Chicagoland for Memorial Day? If so, then you’re in luck!

Chicago is a bustling city on Memorial Day with lots of activities for all age groups. Here are my top picks for Chicago Memorial Day activity:

Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade —

Chicago boasts one of the most well-known and largest Memorial Day parades nationwide. Its route starts at Lake and State Street and continues down State Street to Van Buren. Although it starts at noon, consider showing up early to secure a good spot. The whole family will enjoy the floats, bands, cars, and dancers. Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade honors all men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11am at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets). The parade will step off at noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street.
