If you are looking for a great way to spend plenty of fun with the family, a camping trip is just the thing for you. This is the perfect opportunity to spend a lot of time together enjoying nature and sharing exciting adventures together. During this time, you will increase your bond with the family.

The best camping trips are ones that were planned out carefully in advance. Everyone in the family should be involved in the process, which will make the trip much more enjoyable. Sharing the preparation and planning teaches children responsibility, new skills and how to work together as a team. All of these are important assets we hope our children use later in life.

Having a memorable camping trip means that you are prepared for anything you may encounter. Many things can go wrong such as the weather, uneven ground, bugs, bad food, bad bathrooms and much more. Having a plan ahead of time to eliminate these problems before they happen is wise. A good camper with a good plan will know how to adjust when something unexpected comes their way. As tough as it may seem at the time, we can all make the most of any circumstance. A camper that is prepared will have a more memorable camping trip.

Preparing a check list before your trip is a must. Include on your list where you’re camping, how long you will be gone, how much food and supplies you need and the expected weather. Pack your basic needs first: shelter, food, comfort, and means of self-defense from wild animals such as bears and mountain lions. Keep a knife handy. Always aim to use a tent that is bigger than what is actually needed so you have extra space. Having a tarp to put over the top of the tent is good to have so that you are protected in the case of inclement weather. It’s much better to be overly prepared versus not having enough of something.

Let the kids pack their belongings for the trip. Everyone should bring a flashlight and some games they enjoy. When you arrive at your camping site, tell everyone that they should put things back where they came from. This reduces someone else looking for something that’s needed. Pack everything in separate containers so everything has its’ own place. Never forget to take a first aid kit on every camping trip.

Food is one of the most important things to bring on your trip. Decide ahead of time what kind of meals you will be cooking, and figure out how you’re going to cook them. You can use an outdoor camping grill or a camping stove. If you want to cook on an open fire, you will need to remember a cooking grate. If you want to have a memorable camping trip, take the proper time needed to plan before you go.
