Europe is the perfect destination for a family vacation as it offers a wide range of family friendly activities and will expose your children to a variety of different cultures and experiences.

Paris – France

Children will love Paris as it’s within close proximity to two major theme parks, Disneyland Paris and Parc Asterix. However, there are plenty of opportunities to expose your children to a bit of French culture. Perhaps consider booking a French bakery tour, where your children will get the opportunity to learn how to create traditional French pastries.

If you have teenage daughters consider treating them to a perfume making class, where they’ll get to take home their very own custom made perfume. For a magical family memory also make sure to visit the Eiffel tower at night, when it’s illuminated.

Venice – Italy

For an adventure of a lifetime take your family on a gondola ride down Venice’s network of canals. A great place to hire a gondola is St Mark’s Square, which is home to some of Venice’s most well-known buildings. If you’d like to take home some souvenirs also make sure you visit a traditional mask store where your children can each pick out their own beautifully decorated mask.

If you visit during the summer and want to cool off visit Aqualandia, a world class water-park or grab a scoop or two of Italian gelato. Be warned it may be hard to make a decision as there are countless choices to choose from!

Amsterdam – the Netherlands

Although Amsterdam may not be the most obvious choice for a family vacation, it actually offers a large variety of family friendly activities. One example of which is Anne Frank House a museum which gives visitors a look into the life of Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl who kept a diary about her experiences in Nazi Germany. Anne Frank House is recommended for children aged 10 or older.

Alternatively consider visiting the NEMO science centre, a hands on interactive museum where children will have fun creating giant bubbles, conducting chemistry experiments and producing their very own music videos. If you’re a fan of pancakes also consider taking a cruise across on the Pancake Boat, where you can eat as many pancakes as you’d like. Two and a half hour family cruises depart every Saturday and Sunday.

Dubrovnik – Croatia

The beautiful coastal city of Dubrovnik is famed for its picturesque buildings and its sparkling turquoise water. Dubrovnik is unique as its city walls were built in the Middle Ages and are still standing, along with many of its original buildings. Exploring Dubrovnik is like stepping back in time or visiting a fairy-tale city, which is bound to appeal to children of all ages.

If you’re looking for some quality family time also consider going on a multi-day cruise, where you’ll get to visit some of Croatia’s most beautiful islands. If you’re interested, perhaps consider hiring a traditional flotilla. Prices are reasonable and most flotillas come with their own captain.

So what are you waiting for? For a family vacation you should consider visiting Europe. Not only will your children have the time of their life but they’ll also get the opportunity to learn more about the European history and culture.
