Annual Lenexa Spinach Festival | Lenexa, KS
Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World” during the 1930s. The Spinach Festival rolls all of the history surrounding Lenexa into a fun celebration! McPherson Scottish Festival | McPherson, KS
Named one of the Top 100 Events in 2009 by the American Bus Association, the annual Scottish Festival in September features two stages of live musical entertainment Sept. 24-25 at Lakeside Park. The music is usually Celtic in nature and there are both Highland Dance and Pipe & Drum competitions on Saturday.

Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant | Medicine Lodge, KS
The Treaty of 1867 was the foundation of settlement of the entire Southwest. The Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty re-enactment compresses 300 years of history into two hours of entertainment and education. Set against the panoramic backdrop of the timeless “Red Hills” and the Kansas sky, the Pageant commemorates the diverse cultures of the “Discoverers, Explorers, and Settlers” mixed with the Native peoples of the Central Plains.
In a natural amphitheater, near the actual site of the council where the Medicine River (named by theKiowa for its medicinal waters) and Elm Creek flow together, the re-enactment takes place, and peace will come with time to the prairie.

Balloons, Bikes, Blues and BBQ | Parsons, KS
The City of Parsons and Labette County Tourism holds a one-day outdoor Blues festival each October. The entire city-wide event includes a hot air balloon regatta, a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned BBQ event, a car show and a motorcycle poker run. The music serves as the background for the entire event from the Seaton Family Pavilion in Forest Park. The event is free to the public.
