UK Family Activity Weekend
What if you`ve got kids but still want to get away from it all on holiday? You`re in luck, because the UK is packed full of nooks, crannies and other undiscovered places that are not just off the beaten track, but off the radar for many groups of holidaymakers.
Even celebrated holiday destinations can offer their share of hidden locations. Take Devon, for instance. Here you`ll find popular beaches but also the wilds of Dartmoor, which are perfect for exploring. In particular, try the little village of Buckland-in-the-Moor. This village has picturesque cottages but also provides a headquarters for further adventures around the area and is an ideal place to return to after a day of cycling or walking.
Devon is also home to Welcombe Mouth. This is a secluded spot in which to have a family holiday, especially if you`re interested in nature. You`ll appreciate the nearby gardens at Moons House, for example and the countryside in the area has many varieties of flora and fauna. More energetic holidaymakers will doubtless enjoy an opportunity to try water sports such as surfing at the local beach.
If you fancy some mountain air, try sleeping in the shadow of the giant Skiddaw. This peak can be found in Cumbria, near the Uldale Fells and there are opportunities to stay in farmhouses nearby should you wish to wake up each morning with spectacular views. Families will enjoy spending time in the Cumbrian countryside with its quiet hills and lack of bustle.
Over in Norfolk, you may wish to explore Wells-Next-To-The-Sea. This hidden holiday venue is obviously near to the great blue yonder and that`s one reason why it may appeal, especially when this location also boasts remarkable harbour views and quaint seaside pubs. The area around Wells-Next-To-The-Sea is also certainly worth a look, since it`s here that you`ll find plenty of scope for family wanders around the local woodlands and for communal activities such as bird watching.
The UK`s share of hidden holiday destinations is hardly limited to England, either. It`s in Scotland that you`ll find the Kelburn estate in Ayrshire, which features a secret, magical forest guaranteed to entertain the kids and to surprise adults as well. The estate contains a gingerbread house, a mysterious castle and even a maze.
Around the Powys area of Wales there is another holiday destination that`s full of wonder and myth. The top attraction here is surely the slate mine, which has been converted to tell the story of knights, dragons and secretive boatmen. The caverns here are perfect for exploring by families on activity weekends and there`s even a waterfall to visit.https://greatfamilyvacationdestinations.com/uk-family-activity-weekend/https://greatfamilyvacationdestinations.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/devon.jpghttps://greatfamilyvacationdestinations.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/devon-150x150.jpgCity Family WeekendActivity, family,Family Vacation Destinations,Great,UK,Weekend What if you`ve got kids but still want to get away from it all on holiday?
