By Lucy Pitt
Looking for new and exciting places to take the family on a day out can often be unneeded hard work, but it need not be.
There are plenty of fantastic destinations dotted around the UK that would be suited for all families, young and old.
As parents we all know that keeping the kiddies entertained can often be hard work, but keeping them entertained in the right places makes it all a little bit easier. The following destinations should give you a few ideas if you’re struggling to find some of your own;
Chester Zoo (located in Upton-by-Chester, Cheshire) is the UK’s largest zoo and is also the self proclaimed number zoo in the UK. The zoo itself is set within 110 acres of award-winning gardens and caters for just under one and half million visitors every year, so you can imagine it is a popular attraction at peak times of the year. The zoo itself is accessible for all and is suited for any age.
LEGO is one of the most popular children’s toys of all time, if not the most popular toy, so it makes sense that a theme park was built to celebrate this fact. LEGOLAND is located in the heart of Windsor, and is not to be confused with the LEGOLAND in California or Florida. It makes use of nearly 50 million LEGO bricks in the park… but don’t try and count them all! LEGOLAND is a fantastic day out, but why not make it into a weekend break by staying at one of the many local Windsor hotels.
What family doesn’t love chocolate? A trip to the factory of the most successful confectioners in the UK is sure to leave a long lasting impression; the scent of the air alone will leave your mouth watering for more. Cadbury World is located in the heart of Birmingham and offers a fantastic day out for all… and don’t forget to visit the Cadbury shop there just in case you’re hungry for more.
National Space Centre
The National Space Centre in Leicester is an award winning space centre and known as being the largest space visitor attraction in the UK. The attraction really is ‘out of this world’ with a fantastic look into the unknown. A lot of children dislike the idea of going somewhere educational on a day out, but these thoughts will diminish upon arrival. A simply breathtaking day out, suited for all but may be lost on the very young.
Alton Towers is one of the biggest and best theme parks in the UK, a true adrenalin fuelled theme park with some of the biggest, fastest and scariest looking rides in the country. Alton Towers is sure to excite people of all ages and there will be rides suited for all ages. Located in Stoke-on-Trent it is easily accessible to most of the UK as it is in a very central location. If you are thinking of going, try and pick a day that not many others would choose as it can fill up very quickly at peak times.
